[Source: University of Arizona COP] - Beginning with the 2009-2010 academic year, the UA College of Pharmacy will require a three-unit course in pharmacogenomics, putting the college in a leadership position when it comes to pharmacogenomics education.

Pharmacogenomics, the study of how a person’s genetic makeup affects the body’s response to drugs, is a rapidly emerging field. Because of the importance of the discipline, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy last year approved policy guidelines requiring colleges of pharmacy to sufficiently address pharmacogenomics education in their curricula. In addition, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education mentions the need for pharmacogenomics education in its standards.
