[Source: Tom Beal, The Arizona Daily Star]- Little Kathy from Michigan was poster girl for the beneficial effects of Tucson's climate on asthma sufferers in the 1960s.
She arrived in September 1964, sick and weak, having spent 112 days of the previous year in hospitals.
Midway through her two-year stay at the Sahuaro School, run by the National Foundation for Asthmatic Children, her parents visited to find her tanned and healthy — swimming and running in the Foothills of the Tucson Mountains, according to a story in the Arizona Daily Star.
