Application season open for Natl. Youth Science Camp
Two graduating high-school students will represent Arizona at the 2009 National Youth Science Camp, hosted by the National Youth Science Foundation. The all-expenses-paid honors program runs July 1-25, 2009. Contact Melissa Tarango for more info: 602-542-4043. Applications are due Jan. 23, 2009.

SFAz awards grant to remake Biosphere 2 as teacher-training center

12/09/2008 | Twenty years ago, a group of visionary scientists and entrepreneurs came to the Sonoran Desert near Oracle, Ariz., and built Biosphere 2, an intricate, sealed model of life on Earth, from microbes to mangroves to mountains. Last week, key figures from the venture's evolution announced Biosphere 2's new purpose, as a training center for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics teachers.
