Full Story:

A major genomics trade magazine has named TGen leader Jeffrey Trent as 2003's most visionary dealmaker.

Trent, the Translational Genomics Research Institute's president and scientific director, was lauded by Genome Technology for the consortium-building skills he demonstrated in establishing TGen in Arizona and during his years at the National Institutes of Health.

"Sustained funding is probably the easiest (challenge) to point to," Trent told the magazine regarding TGen. "But I think sustained relationships--establishing (partnerships) and maintaining those in a way that you not just promise but you deliver--is going to be the challenge going forward."

The magazine is read by more than 20,000 professionals in the life-sciences industry.
