The Arizona Board of Regents yesterday unanimously approved the construction of three new University of Arizona research buildings. The structures, to be located near the Arizona Health Sciences Center north of East Speedway Boulevard, will add more than 360,000 square feet of research and classroom space, including:

  • The Institute for Biomedical Sciences building, home of research into the understanding and treatment of cancer, asthma, allergies, diabetes, and other diseases;
  • A Chemistry Building expansion, allowing department faculty to consolidate programs in one location; and
  • Drachman Hall, to be shared by the Arizona College of Public Health and the Colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing.
