UA College of Pharmacy No. 1 for NIH faculty funding

The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy boasts the nation's highest percentage of doctoral faculty receiving funding for research from the National Institutes of Health.

The program also ranked sixth in terms of total NIH grants and contracts awarded.

According to Fiscal Year 2006 data compiled by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, UA College of Pharmacy among the top 10 schools of pharmacy in 10 of 12 categories.

UA's current No. 6 ranking for total NIH grants marks a steady improvement from seventh in 2005 and eighth in 2004.

"These are very impressive data and demonstrate the high productivity of our researchers," said J. Lyle Bootman, dean of the college.
