Lectureship launched to honor Cancer Center founding director

The University of Arizona has announced that Dr. Frank L. Meyskens, director of the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of California, Irvine, will deliver the first Sydney E. Salmon Lectureship in Translational Research. The address is scheduled for noon, Thursday, May 8, in the Kiewit Auditorium in the Arizona Cancer Center.

Meyskens' talk, entitled "From the Desert to the Sea: Rays of Hope across State Boundaries," will discuss his original work on melanoma in 1977 at the Cancer Center under Dr. Salmon. Subsequent lectures will be held each year on Dr. Salmon's birthday, in commemoration of the life and work of the center's first director, who died in October of 1999.

The lecture is primarily intended for the campus community.
