Dr. Ray Woosley, president of the new Critical Path Institute, an FDA-affiliated drug development project in Tucson, recently testified before the U.S. Congress on drug safety issues.

In a hearing before the Senate Health Education Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee entitled "Ensuring drug safety: Where do we go from here?" Dr. Woosley discussed his concerns about the current state of the Food and Drug Administration and some problems that plague the pharmaceutical development and testing process.

Members of the committee, chaired by Wyoming senator Mike Enzi, include Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Edward Kennedy.
