The Greater Phoenix Economic Council has selected Troy Ignelzi as vice president, emerging technologies.

Ignelzi will be charged with developing a region-wide strategy with community and health care providers in order to promote the life science industries.

"Troy's experience in the neuroscience field is keenly aligned with our emerging science sectors in the valley," said GPEC President and Chief Executive Officer Barry Broome. "He has worked with researchers, entrepreneurs, physicians, and venture capitalists in the life science field. We are very excited to have Troy join our team."

Ignelzi comes to Phoenix from Michigan where he has been working with Eli Lilly & Co. as a sales executive focusing on neuroscience and life science portfolios. Prior to that, he served as the vice president of business development and finance with Southwest Michigan First, as well as the executive director of economic development for Berrien County, Mich., municipal government.

GPEC is a public-private partnership representing Maricopa County, 14 cities and towns, and more than 130 companies.
