The scholarship application deadline has passed. All applicants will receive written notice of their status during the third week of December. Those chosen as semi-finalists will be interviewed on January 7, 9, or 11, with date and site (Flagstaff, Phoenix, or Tucson) to be determined by the Foundation and announced in the December notification letter. 04/18/2008 | Devin Mauney, a 2005 Flinn Scholar, possesses sharp political instincts, a fascination with education and economic policy, and an intense concern about gaps between the rich and poor. Last month he was named a recipient of the Truman Scholarship, the nation's highest undergraduate award for public service, in recognition of his rapid emergence as a promising leader in several arenas.

Scholar alum joins Flinn Foundation board

04/21/2008 | The Flinn Foundation has elected Shaun A. Kirkpatrick, president and CEO of Research Corporation Technologies (RCT), to its governing board. RCT is a Tucson-based technology investment and management company. Kirkpatrick becomes the first Flinn Foundation board member from outside Maricopa County and the first alumnus of the Flinn Scholars Program to serve on the board.

Cardy, Mitchell snare Goldwater Scholarships for biomedical research

04/18/2008 | Two Flinn Scholars engaged in advanced biomedical research, Lara Cardy and Michael Mitchell, have received the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, the top national award for undergraduates in science, engineering, and mathematics.

Information Meetings Announced for 2009 Scholars Program

02/12/2008 | The Flinn Scholars Program will host a series of informational meetings for Arizona high school students in early April. The sessions, in Tucson, Tempe, Flagstaff, and Phoenix, will discuss the 2009 scholarship (online application available in late August 2008).

Globetrotting McGinnity wins Marshall Scholarship

1/17/2008 | Megan McGinnity, a 2003 Flinn Scholar, has won one of the world's most esteemed graduate fellowships, the Marshall Scholarship. Next fall she will begin studying Middle East politics at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, extending her investigation of foreign policy and security and how they are intertwined with human trafficking.
