[Source: EVLiving, Kathee Austin] – In 2008, the Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research (SSBTR) distributed $215,000 to the Brain Tumor Society, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Barrow Neurological Institute and TGen. On March 7th, SSBTR will host a 5 mile walk-a-thon around the track at Pinnacle High School. SSBTR is a student run organization founded in 2002 shortly after three students from the Paradise Valley School District died from brain tumors. When research pointed out that, other than leukemia, this particular disease was the number one cancer killer of teenagers, a decision was made to do something about it.
