[Source: Northwest Explorer News] — Incoming Tucson-area high school sophomores of Hispanic heritage must register by Friday, April 25, for a summer math and science skills enrichment experience. Sci-Tech Summer Camp is set for the University of Arizona in Tucson July 9 through 12. It is presented by Advancing Hispanic Excellence in Technology, Engineering, Math, and Science, which is the educational foundation for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, and the Hispanic Engineers National Achievement Awards Conference. The camp is designed for Hispanic students interested in the subjects of science, technology, engineering and math, a release said.
Sci-Tech campers conduct fun lab experiments, participate in math contests, take corporate tours and enjoy other activities during the four-day camp. For a taste of the full college experience, they will stay overnight in UA dorms. Sponsors cover the majority of the camp costs, so students pay $10 each. Students must provide their own transportation. To register or for more information about the Sci-Tech Summer Camps, go online to www.ahetems.org or call Luis Mendoza at 817-272-1116 or e-mail him at [email protected].
