[Source: Arizona Daily Sun] – Northern Arizona University Professor Paul Keim has seen a number of research projects lead to scientific innovations over the last two decades.
He has also watched as many discoveries, despite having practical applications in the real world, have sat idle on laboratory shelves for years, even decades. One of his first discoveries, made more than 18 years ago, is licensed but has never been used commercially.
He has seen how the costs of commercializing a new technology that is unproven in the marketplace can kill a good idea.
