New docs in AZ more likely DOs than MDs

[Source: Arizona Daily Star] – In Arizona, there’s a growing likelihood that your physician will not be a medical doctor.
Doctors of osteopathy, commonly called DOs, make up about 11 percent of practicing physicians in Arizona. But in 2012, the state will graduate twice as many DOs than MDs.
That gap could widen if the University of Arizona is unable to expand its medical school in Phoenix — a project facing a shortfall on money for new classrooms.
