Flinn Scholars Devin Mauney ('04), Nicole Rennell ('05), and Ben Strauber ('05) have received the National Security Education Program David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarship, a nationally competitive study-abroad scholarship that will fund their travels to Brazil, South Africa, and India, respectively.
The newest Flinn Scholars and the Flinn Scholars Program have honored 20 Arizona educators for their outstanding dedication and service. Each educator was nominated by a member of the 2007 class of Flinn Scholars for having a significant impact on their education and development.
Twenty of Arizona's premier high school seniors have chosen to pursue their college education at an Arizona university on a Flinn Foundation Scholarship. The award provides four years of study, academic-focused travel abroad, personal mentorship by faculty members, and other benefits. The package is valued at more than $50,000.
Joseph Fu and Megan McGinnity, both Flinn Scholars from the class of 2003, are two of 65 students nationwide to win this year's prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship. Selected for their leadership and commitment to public service, Fu and McGinnity will receive financial support for graduate study and leadership training.
Recent graduates Liz Dreeland ('01) and Ryan Johnson ('02) were awarded Fulbright Fellowships that will take them to Uruguay and Brazil. Christina Kwong ('04) and Steven Cottam ('03) received National Security Education Program David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships, which have allowed them to conduct research and language studies in China and Armenia.

Every summer the Flinn Foundation escorts an entire class of Flinn Scholars to Budapest, Hungary, and neighboring Romania for a three-week intensive seminar on the unfolding democracies of Eastern Europe. Scholars meet with leading political figures, learn the local history and culture, journey to important locales, and live amongst the locals. They return as seasoned travelers with a broadened view of the world--and wonderful tales to tell. Here are their adventures in their own words.
