The application for the 11th cohort of the Flinn Foundation Translational Seed Grants Program is now open. Arizona-based researchers can apply through Oct. 31 to compete for a $100,000 grant plus an opportunity for follow-on funding.

The program seeks teams of Arizona scientists and clinicians pursuing innovative solutions to well-defined clinical needs. The 10 selected participants receive a package that includes:

  • A $100,000 grant over 18 months;
  • Quarterly cohort workshops to enhance skills in commercialization;
  • The opportunity to compete for an additional $100,000 in follow-on funding;
  • Networking and connections with research and industry experts; and
  • Membership during the grant period on Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap Steering Committee, a statewide consortium of leaders driving our state’s bioscience ecosystem.

Researchers must address compelling clinical needs in the areas of devices, diagnostics, health-focused technology platforms or delivery processes, and therapeutics.

Visit the Flinn website for more details about requirements, eligibility, program benefits, expectations, and use of funds.

Proposals will be evaluated by independent review committees of academic and industry experts appointed by the Flinn Foundation. Constructive feedback will be offered to applicants.

An info session will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 on Zoom. Opportunities to connect with the Flinn staff will continue through the 5 p.m. Oct. 31 deadline.

Since 2013, the Flinn Foundation has awarded 83 seed grants totaling about $9.5 million
