Flinn Scholar art exhibit opening reception
In celebration of 40 years of the Flinn Scholarship Program, you’re invited to the grand opening of a unique art exhibition that highlights the inspiring journeys, growth, and achievements of our Scholars.
Art of Achievement: Celebrating 40 Years of Flinn Scholars, a collaboration between the Flinn Foundation and the Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA), features artwork created by Arizona artists and inspired by the life stories of Flinn Scholars. Each profiled Scholar has been thoughtfully paired with an artist (nine of whom are also Scholars) to craft a visual, literary, performance, or musical piece that captures the essence of their journey.
An email invitation was sent earlier this week to all Flinn Scholars. You may also RSVP below. We hope to see you on Feb. 1.

Class of 2025 update
Selection of the 40th class of Flinn Scholars is underway. This year, we received 1,130 applications—an increase of nearly 11% from last year—making it one of our largest applicant pools ever. Applications came from 14 of Arizona’s 15 counties, with La Paz being the only county without a submission.
The review process has begun, and we’re incredibly grateful for the more than 60 reviewers who have stepped forward to help, including many Flinn Scholar alumni who are volunteering their expertise and time.
We look forward to announcing the approximately 80 Semifinalists early in the new year.
NEH Chair and Flinn Scholar Shelly Lowe recounts her journey

Shelly Lowe, chair of the National Endowment for the Humanities, visited the Flinn Foundation in August and met with current Scholars and alumni.
The Class of 1992 Flinn Scholar and University of Arizona graduate was also kind enough to sit down with Flinn Foundation President and CEO Tammy McLeod, Ph.D., for a conversation about Lowe’s journey from Ganado on the Navajo Nation to Washington, D.C.
Lowe said during her interview that she sees many opportunities for the more than 650 Flinn Scholar alumni to make an impact in their communities.
“As a collective group we have the power to really do something to create better health within the state, whether that’s physical health or spiritual health … and come together and really create some amazing new opportunities.”
