September 11, 2008

The application deadline for the 2009 Flinn Scholarship is Friday, October 24, 2008.

The Flinn Scholars Program uses an online electronic application, allowing you to save and check your work, then send your completed application to the Flinn Foundation with a simple click of the mouse.

To apply, you will begin by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page, which will direct you to an external Web site. There you will register your name and choose a password, and the Web site will guide you through the entire process. The site is a major online college-application provider that will protect your privacy.

The following components comprise the online application: forms that collect biographical and family data; information on your school and community activities, employment, and current studies; transcripts and test scores; and three essay questions.

We suggest that you read our general description of the Flinn Scholar Experience and our lists of Strategies for Success and Frequently Asked Questions.

You must provide two teacher recommendations and a report from your guidance counselor; these persons must submit those electronically, as the application website explains. We strongly recommend that you consult your counselor now and approach two teachers for whose support you will ask.

You or your guidance counselor must mail an official copy of your transcripts, including information on course work, class rank, grade-point average, and scores on standardized tests. This information can be mailed to the Flinn Foundation at any time before the application deadline:

It is your responsibility to ensure that all application components are submitted and received by the Flinn Foundation no later than Friday, October 24, 2008. Incomplete or late applications will not be reviewed.
