After a three-year search, the Phoenix Symphony has announced its new music director: Paolo Bortolameolli, an acclaimed Chilean-Italian conductor who brings global experience and a passion for his art that stems from childhood.


Western Spirit Museum to open expanded Louis Sands IV later this month / Arizona Digital Free Press

Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West will open the Louis Sands IV Center in March, completing a $12 million expansion that adds a two-story, 12,000-square-foot facility to the campus. The museum will host receptions and special programs throughout the week, inviting guests to explore new exhibitions and the museum’s added space.

A music teacher at Puente de Hózhó, a bilingual magnet elementary school, put together a grant with the Debbi Grogan Memorial Fund and Flagstaff Unified School District Foundation to provide funding to help fill gaps in music and art education.

After a workplace accident and a subsequent fall left him paralyzed, former classical prodigy DeMarco Castro transitioned from performing to composing. Despite limited hand mobility, Castro has completed three full albums and continues to release new music.

The University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television will present the fifth annual New Directions Festival: Broken, a curated evening of original works created entirely by students. The free event will be held March 26-29 at the Tornabene Theatre on the U of A campus.


Free Little Library opens at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport / Daily Independent

Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport celebrated Read Across America Day by unveiling the PHX Free Little Library. The new amenity in Terminal 3 is a partnership between the airport, Phoenix Public Library and the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library.
