Raffaella Soldi, Ph.D., and her team at HonorHealth Research Institute are working to improve the treatment of Glioblastoma with technology that attacks brain tumors by identifying specific targets unique to each patient.
Glioblastoma is a rare but aggressive form of cancer. It accounts for almost half of all malignant primary brain and central nervous system tumors. In the United States, it’s diagnosed in roughly 12,000 to 14,000 people a year.
In preclinical studies, her SNAP-TIL 101 therapy triggered more effective tumor cell killing. Next step? Taking the technology to a first-in-human clinical trial.
The project received one of seven $100,000 grants this year from the Flinn Foundation Translational Seed Grants Program. Since 2013, the Foundation has committed more than $10 million in seed grants to 90 research teams that are advancing translational research and the goals of Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap. VIDEO.
