
University of Arizona Professor and BIO5 Institute Director Jennifer Barton is one of 162 honorees named to the National Academy of Inventors 2025 class of senior members. Barton is vice chair of Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap Steering Committee, the leadership group overseeing the state’s long-term strategic plan that has guided the growth and innovation of Arizona’s bioscience ecosystem for more than two decades.
Barton, the Thomas R. Brown Distinguished Chair of Biomedical Engineering at U of A, has eight patents including for a sub-millimeter diameter falloposcope to identify early-stage ovarian cancer, and is immediate past president of SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics.
