[Source: WSOCTV] – The Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ recently opened the Barrow Resource for Acquired Injury to the Nervous System (BRAINS) clinic. The clinic is reportedly the first one in the U.S. to offer medical AND educational services to children with TBI. Neurologist Javier Cardenas, M.D. says a Neuropsychiatrist evaluates the child and then provides the teacher, school district and family with an assessment of the kind of educational support services that may be needed by the student. The information helps schools make the accommodations needed to help the student transition back into and succeed in the classroom.
