[Source: The Arizona Republic] - About 30 people showed up at a recent meeting in which Mayo Clinic officials unveiled plans to complete development of their property at Desert Ridge in northeast Phoenix.
Mayo wants permission to erect, over time, five buildings at heights that are 110 feet above the currently allowed limits. The 250-foot-tall buildings would be a second hospital and four outpatient clinics with offices.

ASU seeking energy research funding
[Source: The Arizona Republic] - Arizona State University officials are hoping Congress will approve an array of energy proposals and appropriations bills that would provide millions in funding for renewable energy programs.
The university has already received $15 million in economic stimulus funds from the U.S. Department of Energy and for research in solar technology.

[Sourve: Oncology Nursing News] - Research conducted at The University of Arizona suggests that a drug may be able to change the function of hard-to-treat tumor cells so they will be more responsive to chemotherapy or radiation.
To gain greater response rates on melanoma tumors in cell cultures, Randy Burd, PhD, assistant professor of nutritional sciences and member of The University of Arizona's BIO5 Institute, has been testing dacarbazine, the standard chemotherapeutic drug, along with its analog temozolomide, in combination with various bioactive compounds.
