[Source: The Arizona Republic] – Doctors at Mercy Gilbert Medical Center have begun treating first-time heart-attack patients using adult stem cells, which they hope will rebuild damaged heart tissue and reduce the risk of heart failure.

The hospital, which has received national recognition for its role in a handful of cutting-edge research projects, is the first in Arizona to participate in the clinical trial.
