[Source: Opportunity for a Greater Phoenix] – The deadliest cancer is sneaky. Lung cancer kills nearly 160,000 people a year, in part because it isn’t diagnosed until the disease is fairly advanced.

“Lung cancer kills more people than cervical cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer combined,” says Alan C. Nelson, director of the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. “Yet we don’t do anything to detect it early.”

Until now.

VisionGate, a company founded by Nelson while he was a professor in bioengineering at the University of Washington, has developed technology to screen for lung cancer that demands nothing more of the patient than coughing.
