UA expert: Poor social skill, depression possibly linked

[Source: Arizona Daily Star] – If you’re depressed, your internal wiring may not be the only culprit. Local research suggests it might be more than biology.

Behavioral scientist Chris Segrin, who also heads the University of Arizona communi- cations department, said he thinks poor social skills and depression are closely linked. His research will be published in “Handbook of Interpersonal Psychology” in the fall.

Moving past internal causes of depression came from Segrin’s communications and psychology background, he said.
