APS offers energy STEM K-12 education grants

SAN JUAN COUNTY — More than $50,000 in grant money is available for area teachers through a joint program sponsored by Arizona Public Service Co. and the Phoenix Suns professional basketball team.

As much as $2,500 of funding is available for teachers in grades kindergarten through 12. Teachers must present in their application an outline for a student-based energy exploration project that uses science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

The funding is offered only to teachers within Arizona Public Service Co.’s service territory, which includes San Juan County.
