The merger of the University of Arizona’s medical school and two hospitals is moving along, UA leaders told the Arizona Board of Regents on Friday.
The regents heard about the search for a new CEO and new faculty, several major building projects and other efforts in a 30-minute progress report.

Progress is being made on plans to expand the Arizona Cancer Center to downtown Phoenix, first as a unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the spring and later in a new, privately financed, 250,000-square-foot building in partnership with St. Joseph’s parent company, Catholic Healthcare West, said UA vice president Bill Crist.
