It’s that time of the year for Arizona’s most excelling high-school students to apply for the state’s most prestigious merit-based scholarship.

The 2024 Flinn Scholarship application opened Sept. 11. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, Oct. 18.

The Flinn Foundation annually selects about 20 Flinn Scholars, who each receive a full ride to Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona—valued at more than $130,000.

The scholarship covers tuition, fees, housing, and meals at one of the three universities, at least two study abroad experiences, plus the connections and community found in a network of more than 700 current and alumni Flinn Scholars.

The application is comprised of:

  • Forms about current studies, extracurricular activities, and employment;
  • Three essay prompts;
  • One academic recommendation, submitted by a high-school teacher;
  • One leadership/service recommendation, submitted by a teacher, professor, coach, employer, or community member;
  • A counselor report that includes a copy of the student’s transcript and school profile; and
  • SAT or ACT scores (no minimum score needed to apply).
