The application for the Class of 2025 Flinn Scholarship will open on Thursday, Sept. 12. The deadline to apply is Monday, Oct. 21 at 5 p.m.
In scope and value, the Flinn Scholarship is unlike almost any other undergraduate merit-based scholarship in the United States. Arizona high-school seniors are eligible to apply for the scholarship, which provides a full ride to Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, or the University of Arizona.
The Flinn Scholarship benefits include:
- The full cost of tuition and mandatory fees, plus housing and meals, valued at more than $135,000;
- Funding for an international summer seminar after the Scholar’s freshman year and for at least one additional study-abroad experience;
- Participation in an extraordinary community of more than 725 current and alumni Flinn Scholars;
- Membership in a university honors college, with amenities including small classes, access to top researchers, and guest lectures;
- Personal mentoring from top faculty and fellow Scholars as well as exposure to Arizona and global leaders in business, government, science, and the arts at exclusive events; and
- Intellectual, cultural and social activities developed exclusively for Flinn Scholars by both the Flinn Foundation and the universities.
The Flinn Scholarship application is comprised of:
- Forms that collect biographical data and information about current studies, extracurricular activities, and employment;
- Three essay prompts;
- One academic/teacher recommendation, submitted separately by a high-school teacher;
- One leadership/service recommendation, submitted separately by a teacher, professor, coach, employer, or community member;
- A copy of your transcript and school profile, uploaded by your high school academic counselor on the counselor report; and
- A copy of ACT or SAT scores (minimum test score of 26 on the ACT or 1230 on the SAT). The last tests that qualify for the Flinn Scholarship are the Sept. 14 ACT and the Oct. 5 SAT.
