Alpa Shah, M.D.

Dr. Alpa Shah joined the Flinn Foundation Board of Directors in 2022, bringing exceptional clinical leadership and strategic vision for advancing healthcare. A practicing physician specializing in pulmonary and critical care medicine, she served as chief of medical staff at HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center from 2020 to 2023, where she championed key initiatives and fostered an environment of extraordinary patient care.

Dr. Shah has served on the HonorHealth Board of Directors since 2020, where she participates in key committees, including the Board Quality and Strategic Planning committees, and chairs the Board Nominating and Governance Committee. With expertise in medical staff governance, she chairs the Medical Staff Bylaws Committee and was selected as Network Senior Advisor for the Professional Practice Evaluation (Peer Review) Committee. In 2025, Dr. Shah chaired the Bylaws Task Force, overseeing the integration of medical staffs from newly acquired hospitals and consolidating governance documents across all hospitals to enhance collaboration and efficiency across healthcare teams. She was appointed to the medical staff in 2006, and is the recipient of multiple teaching awards and the Distinguished Medical Service award.

As a managing partner at Scottsdale Pulmonary and Critical Care, Dr. Shah shares oversight of practice operations and strategic direction while delivering comprehensive pulmonary and critical care services across multiple HonorHealth facilities, specializing in COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease, and lung cancer. She maintains an academic appointment at the HonorHealth Scottsdale Osborn Family Medicine Residency Program and has been as a medical consultant and case reviewer for the Arizona Medical Board since 2014.

Dr. Shah completed her pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship at the University of Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital and her internal medicine residency at New York Medical College (Brooklyn-Queens). She holds Board certification in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. She is also active in community service through the National Charity League and other organizations.
