[Source: Ken Alltucker, The Arizona Republic] – Gateway Community College has secured $6 million to build a bioscience lab for start-up companies seeking research space.

The college expects to soon solicit proposals for the design and construction of the lab, which will be located at the college’s campus at 40th and Washington streets.

The funding for the bioscience lab includes $3 million from the Arizona Department of Commerce and $800,000 from the city of Phoenix. The balance comes from Gateway’s share of a voter-approved bond fund. Gateway did not say when it expects the new lab will open, but it will commemorate the lab’s plans during a news conference July 14 at the college.
