[Source: The Arizona Republic] – A team of Arizona scientists say preliminary research points to the absence of a gene in a common type of skin cancer.

Scientists from Mayo Clinic, Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) and Arizona Cancer Center say the findings may show genetic risks for developing a type of skin cancer known as cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. It also may provide clues about whether the skin cancer could take on an aggressive form that spreads to other parts of the body such as the head or neck.
