[Source: GenomeWeb News] – Genescient and Kronos Science Laboratory will collaborate to identify genes that may be involved in Alzheimer’s disease, Genescient said today.

The company said it hopes to use Kronos’ Alzheimer’s disease data set to target genes that previously have not been recognized as linked to the disease.

Irvine, Calif.-based Genescient said it has identified over 750 unique human genomic pathways that may be associated with age-related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, and other chronic diseases. The company said its technology enables scientists to “probe the entire biochemical machinery behind chronic diseases.”

Financial and other terms of the collaboration were not disclosed.
