The Flinn Foundation was awarded one of three honors at last night’s annual dinner of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) for its efforts to advance Arizona’s biosciences sector.

GPEC recognized the foundation with the Outstanding Regional Contribution award for a lasting contribution to regional economic development efforts. It cited the foundation for “pioneering the course for future leadership in the biosciences” through its involvement in helping attract the Translational Genomics Research Institute and the International Genomics Consortium, and its work in commissioning Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap study, a long-term strategy to advance the state’s competitiveness in the biosciences.

Also honored were William J. Post, chairman and CEO of Pinnacle West Capital Corporation, and Gerrit van Huisstede, president and CEO of Wells Fargo Arizona.
