Heard Museum offers teachers courses on indigenous cultures of the Southwest

The Heard Museum Teacher Institute provides teachers with the resources they need to teach their students about indigenous cultures of the Southwest. The program was created to provide educators with enhanced knowledge and materials. The Institute is open to all teachers. Resources for the Institute and include materials corresponding to the museum’s signature exhibit, “HOME: Native People in the Southwest” as well as “We Are! Arizona’s First People.”

The Heard Museum Teacher Institute is recognized as a professional development course. Arizona State University students who complete the course are eligible for two credits at the graduate level. In addition, several school districts award 30 hours of in-service credit for course completion. The Heard Museum Teacher Institute is June 26-30, 2006. Space is limited.
