Already, a record-setting 650+ applications for the 2013 Flinn Scholarship have been winnowed to the final 72. Now comes the really exciting part: on January 4 and 5, the semifinalists for one of the most prestigious merit-based scholarships in the nation will gather at the Flinn Foundation for preliminary interviews.

Meeting the semifinalists will be three-person panels that include a mix of distinguished Flinn Scholar alumni and longtime friends of the Scholars Program from Arizona’s universities and independent organizations.

In mid-January, roughly 40 candidates will learn that they are advancing to the finalist round. On February 28, these students will return to the Foundation for a dinner with their fellow finalists. On March 1 and 2, they will interview with the five members of the Flinn Scholarship Selection Committee, a group including some of Arizona’s most significant established and emerging leaders in a variety of fields.

By mid-March, the Scholars Program will be calling with good news for the 20 members of the Flinn Scholars Class of 2013. Then, the future begins.
