Poste to keynote Phoenix Forum

George Poste, renowned scientist and director of the Arizona Biodesign Institute (AzBio), will be the featured speaker at the August 27 Phoenix Forum, coordinated by the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.

Poste, a leading pharmaceutical and bioscience researcher, joined AzBio at Arizona State University in April. He worked for seven years at SmithKline Beecham, a multinational healthcare company, as president for research and development and as chief science and technology officer. While there, he was instrumental in 29 successful drug and vaccine registrations worldwide.

Born in England, Poste has been honored by Queen Elizabeth with the title of Commander of the British Empire for his work in biotechnology. He has served since 2000 as chairman of the Department of Defense Task Force on Biorterrorism, and is the CEO of Health Technology Networks, a healthcare consulting group in Scottsdale.

Poste will speak on the future of Arizona biosciences and his direction for AzBio. The lunch event will be held at the Arizona Biltmore at 11:30 a.m.
