[Source: Opportunity for Greater Phoenix] – Instead of driving around his New Mexico town to several doctor offices, Gerry Greenhouse takes a 45-minute plane ride to Phoenix for care at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America.

“You can’t compare a holistic treatment center to going to four or five places in Albuquerque,” Greenhouse, 61, said.

The eighth-grade U.S. history teacher believes the Goodyear hospital’s quality treatment for his small B-cell lymphoma makes the monthly trip worthwhile.

“I’m totally convinced that it’s the philosophy of the treatment center that I’m doing so well,” he said.

About 45 percent of the 600 patients the center has treated since it opened in December 2008 have traveled from outside Arizona. Many come from Denver and Los Angeles but others come from as far as Alaska.
