The Arizona Science and Engineering Fair (AzSEF) welcomes your interest and participation in providing students participating in the 2008 AzSEF with an award to encourage research in your area of interest, and more importantly, to generate interest in pursuing a career in that area. Students and teachers are very cognizant of what awards are given each year at the AzSEF. Many students develop research projects based on the size of specific awards given. The following describes the importance of awards, types of awards, and opportunities to also reward teachers for their efforts.
Student Awards generate interest among students in specific areas of research and provide students the opportunity to identify career goals in the area of research. Types of awards:
- Certificates
- Medals
- Trophies
- Cash or US Savings bonds
- Internships
- Scholarships
Award categories in three divisions:
- Elementary (grades 5&6) – 12 scientific categories
- Jr. High (grades 7&8) – 12 scientific categories
- Senior High (grades 9-12) – 17 scientific categories
You have the option of determining the number of awards and specifying which division(s) and categories you want your award(s) to represent. You are required to provide selection criteria for judging each award, and the AzSEF encourages award sponsors to provide a judge(s) for their award(s) when possible. You are also invited to have a representative present the award(s) at the AzSEF award ceremony at 5pm on March 21, 2008. It is important to note the bigger awards draw the most interest from the students and teachers.
Teacher awards recognize teachers for their efforts in working with students:
