UA College of Medicine-Phoenix physician honored by president

Gholam A. Peyman, M.D., a faculty member at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, was honored Feb. 1 by President Barack Obama as one of the 12 eminent researcher recipients of the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. Dr. Peyman, who is best known for inventing LASIK eye surgery, is also a professor of Optical Sciences and Engineering at the UA.
