Celebrating 60 years of the Flinn Foundation
March marks 60 years since the founding of the Flinn Foundation in 1965 — a milestone worth celebrating! Established by Dr. Robert S. and Irene P. Flinn with a vision to improve the quality of life in Arizona to benefit future generations, the Foundation has spent six decades investing in the state’s future.

New Flinn Scholars class taking shape
More than 1,100 Arizona students applied for the 2025 Flinn Scholarship in October, hoping against the long odds for an opportunity to join this special group.
Only 36 students — from 35 high schools spread over 10 counties — were named Flinn Scholarship Finalists. The Finalists, who will meet with our distinguished Selection Committee at the Flinn Foundation next week, advanced from a group of 78 Semifinalists who were interviewed virtually in January.
Thank you to all the alumni who helped review our large number of applications. Your time and expertise were a tremendous help in shaping the Flinn Scholars Class of 2025, which will be announced in late April.

April Alumni Hour features 1993 Scholar Wendy Cassity
4-5 p.m., Monday, April 14 (MST)
Join us for our next Alumni Hour where Sara Zervos (’87) will interview Wendy Cassity, an accomplished legal executive and corporate leader. Wendy has built a distinguished career as a chief legal officer in the technology and industrial sectors, guiding companies through high-stakes transactions, crises, and innovation-driven growth. Wendy’s journey has taken her from Arizona to NYC law firms and the boardrooms of global companies. She’ll share insights on the benefits of a humanities degree in the business world, navigating unplanned career transitions, balancing career with family, and the importance of networking and mentorship.

Alumni update: New role for 2007 Scholar Sarah Seidman (Trainor)
We’re excited to share that Sarah is now leading marketing efforts at Wellthy, a company dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families navigating complex health and care journeys. Wellthy provides personalized care coordination and support for a variety of needs, from managing chronic conditions to assisting aging loved ones.
Congratulations, Sarah! We can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make in this important space.
Volunteer opportunity: Resume workshop for current Scholars
A recent survey showed current Scholars want resume support, so we’re developing a workshop to address this need. As part of this effort, we’re gauging alumni interest in speaking at the virtual event and/or providing feedback on current Scholars’ resumes. This is an opportunity to share your insights and help the next generation of Scholars navigate their professional journeys. We don’t have an exact date, but the event will be held next month in the late afternoon or early evening Arizona time. Express interest via the Alumni Newsletter Form.
