May Alumni Hour: 2002 Scholar Sarah Parmar

4-5 p.m., Tuesday, May 12 (Arizona time)
Location: Zoom

Join us for our upcoming Alumni Hour, featuring a conversation between Sara Knutson (’87) and Sarah Parmar (’02), who is passionate about bridges — not the kind her son designs in Minecraft, but those that connect communities, systems, and landscapes.

As director of conservation at Colorado Open Lands, Sarah works at the intersection of land and water, adapting conservation tools to address water equity, growing municipal demand, and the rapid loss of aquifers in the West. Her career reflects a deep commitment to subject-matter expertise and cross-sector collaboration, leading to unexpected opportunities, including testifying before a Senate committee.

In this conversation, we’ll explore how she has built a career grounded in impact and creativity, her plans to return to her ranching roots, and the one skill she is happy that her parents pushed her to develop. Sarah will happily nerd out on land and water policy, market-based conservation tools, and the evolving challenges of finding common ground.

April Alumni Hour: 2003 Scholar Alex Lau, M.F.A.

Alumni Gatherings

We had a wonderful evening in Flagstaff last week with local alumni. It was especially meaningful to see new connections take shape alongside moments of full-circle recognition, including an alumnus who served on the 2018 Selection Committee reconnecting with a member of the 2018 Scholar class. The event was hosted at Mother Road Brewing Company, owned and operated by a Flinn-Brown Fellow, making the evening all the more special.
