Kaya Dickson (Class of 2022) named to Navajo youth council
“We are taught to hold ourselves strong, stand tall, introduce ourselves, and be kind.”
For Kaya Dickson (Class of 2022), that teaching is the foundation for a new chapter of leadership. As a member of the inaugural Navajo Nation Youth Advisory Council, she is contributing to a platform where young people’s voices are heard on issues from housing insecurity to protecting sacred sites like the San Francisco Peaks.

Arts and achievement: calling all researchers
We’re looking for a partner to assist with a research project exploring the connection between involvement in the arts and exceptional achievement as a high school student.
As you know well, for decades we have welcomed many Flinn Scholars into the program whose experience has been enriched by the arts. If you have a background in education research, the arts, or a related field—and this kind of question intrigues you—we’d love to hear from you.
Whether you’re a faculty member, a graduate researcher, or simply someone with relevant expertise and curiosity about the topic, please let the Scholars team know about your interest.

From one generation of Flinn Scholars to the next, the tug-of-war competition has become a favorite way to close out the annual summer retreat. The four classes of current Flinn Scholars, including the new Class of 2026, gather in Prescott in August to form new connections and friendships leading into the fall semester. And determine which class leaves as the new champion.
